Andy Black arrived in Belfast, Ireland. Andy Black currently resides Dublin. Andy Black began playing poker at a very early age believe it or not with his momma. In the nineties while studying law at Trinity College in Ireland, Andy started to focus on the game of poker. He was associated with the Junior Common Room poker school, and that school, poker pros players
Donnacha O'Dea and Padraig Parkinson played regularly.
Andy has the distinct honor of having been bad-beated by Stu Ungar in the 1997 World Series of Poker main event, with his A-K getting taken down while Stu Ungar held A-Q and went on to win the championship that year and Stu Ungar cemented his name in Poker lore..
After undergoing a huge bad beat defeat the following year as well, Andy wasted 5 years as a Buddhist of all things. When he made his return to the poker ring in 2004, Andy came back with a noise. He performed incredibly well in the tournaments of his Irish home, and placed fifth in the 2005 World Series of Poker and taking home almost $2 Million. Andy Black continues to play like a champion. |
