The game of Chinese poker has been cast into the spotlight lately with stars like Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey playing for $2000 a point. The game is played with 13 cards face down and is rated by the highest hand in the back,
middle hand in the middle and lowest in the front. The game, from what poker professionals tell us is down right addicting. The game is being played by the poker stars in plane rides from tournaments and when out traveling.
It is usually played for 100 – 200 dollars a point and there are no chips in the game. All you need is a pencil and paper to keep track of the score. There is even a world championship in Las Vegas where Chinese poker fans line up at a shot at the title. The game, however, can not be played online, and when those configurations are figured out we could have ourselves a new poker boom in the internet world.
But there is no reason for the Texas Holdem sites to be worried, Chinese poker is a game for the ultra skilled and ultra rich – at least when its $2000 a point. This adds another variation to the already tens upon tens of variations of poker. Like we needed another reason to lose money? Chinese poker is here to stay and the fan base will continue to grow. |
