Many gaming enthusiasts who love card games have been engulfed in, what used to be the most popular game in poker – five card draw. Usually, when watching Hollywood films or any other broadcasting of a card game, the people at the table usually held five cards. That all changed when the world was exposed to texas holdem. Texas holdem has one variation: two cards face down and a 5 card community flop of cards, with three cards dealt first followed by the turn and river.

Many have speculated that 80% of the world’s population was not even aware of the game of texas holdem before the TV stations aired the big tourney’s on TV. Most people thought that Poker was played in one way – 5 cards dealt and most weren’t even aware of the 7 card stud. Fact is hat there are so many variations of poker that even most professional poker players cannot be masters at them all. From Omaha PL Hi to Omaha HiLo (usually a limit game) to Americana – the list is long.

So even though we are used to seeing actors hold 5 cards in their hands in a game of a poker scene in a film, be aware that there are so many other variations and learning them all well could take a lifetime of droning on and on in studies and reading the plethora of books written on each subject and that doesn’t even include Tournament poker where all of these different games of poker have their respected tournaments usually held in Las Vegas where most poker championships are played.
