Despite the continuous restrictions and legislations from several countries to try to ban poker, the poker business itself does not only survive, but its thriving. Recent studies have shown a reduction in players from the biggest market in the world – The US. But despite that blow to the poker community, other countries like Brazil and Spain, where increased deposits into poker sites have increased by 400% in the last 6 months, the pokerboom sees no sign of slowing down.
While Turkey has just banned all forms of online betting and wagering in games of chance, Italy has just lifted their monopoly try and has been overturned by the EU. Italy has now opened and is now a free market – poker sites are marching right into Italy and soon Italy will be another country that will experience the poker boom.
As long as the age limits are respected and the games are played with strong sense of pride, the poker boom is here to stay and will continue to grow. Countries like Australia are still thriving and we look forward to the days when all of Asia too will be involved and take the poker world into the stratosphere. |
